ABOUT MELISSa

I’ve been working in the wedding industry for over 20 years (wow - that seems like such a long time when you write it down like that!). I began as a wedding and portrait photographer in Boston, Massachusetts where I was born and raised. But in 2011, I married the love of my life. He is also a wedding photographer (one of the best in the world!) and happened to be from Australia. So I moved from Boston to Australia where we got married and began our new life together. We now live in Australia and in Las Vegas and travel all over the world photographing weddings, officiating ceremonies and also speaking and teaching other wedding industry professionals. I’ve been a public speaker for nearly 10 years and I’ve been hired to speak to wedding professionals around the world and that’s been a pretty incredible honor as well.

My career as a wedding celebrant started purely by accident, to be honest. Two of my best friends got engaged and caught me completely off guard when they asked if I would consider performing their ceremony. It was an incredible honor and a huge responsibility. I learned so much about them and their relationship and it was so beautiful to be able to share their story with their guests on their wedding day and officially pronounce them husband and wife. After officiating that wedding, I received a referral for another couple that was getting married. And that was the beginning of this really beautiful journey.

I never dreamed I’d become a wedding celebrant but it is one of the most satisfying and fulfilling roles I’ve ever had in life. The process of getting to know each other and hearing your story and learning about your relationship is something that I absolutely love. I am purely your voice at the ceremony. Your wedding ceremony can be funny and lighthearted, it can be sentimental and romantic or it can be deep and emotional. But it will always be you. That’s my one promise. I want to make sure it is your voice that is coming through because it is your wedding.

And I would be absolutely honored to bring that to life at your wedding.
